Sipping his coffee in the comfortable lazy boy, Captain Cat heard some noise from his back yard.
He walked out to see what was happening.

船長貓在他舒服的抱抱椅上喝著咖啡,這時他聽到一些聲音從他的後院傳來。
他走出去看到底發生了什麼事。

There he saw his nephews and niece surrounding a little mouse.
They were discussing about who could get the mouse
They were going to have a contest.
This was the rule of the contest:
Whoever told the biggest lie could keep the mouse.

在那裡,他看到自己的侄子和侄女圍著一隻老鼠。
他們正在討論誰可以擁有這隻老鼠。

Kitty Cathy was going to walk the catwalk for the school fashion show.
She was trying to pick up a pair of new shoes for her performance.
Mrs. Captain, Kitty Cutey and Kitty Kenny were with her at the shoe store.

She picked up a pair of red shoes with high heels and had Kitty Cathy put them on.

Catty put them on and tried to walk, but she fell and twisted her ankle.

Captain太太最喜愛的樣式是有細細的高跟。
她挑了一雙紅色的高跟鞋要Kitty Cathy穿上。
『他們會讓你贏得最大的注意力。』
Cathy穿上他們試著要走路,但她卻摔了一跤扭傷了腳踝。

Kitty Cutey’s favorite style was the kind made of glass, like Cinderella’s.
He picked up a pair of glass shoes and wanted Catty to have a try.
Catty put them on and stood up to walk.
The glass shoes broke because her feet were not quite as narrow as Cinderella’s.

Kitty Cutey最愛的樣式是像灰姑娘一樣的那種玻璃鞋。
他挑了一雙玻璃鞋要Cathy試一試。
Cathy穿上他們起來走路。
但玻璃鞋破了,因為他的腳不像灰姑娘的那麼纖細。

Kenny thought boots were very cool.
He picked a pair of boots and urged Catty to put them on.
Cathy put them on and walked.
But she found out it was difficult to get her cat paws out of these cool boots.

Kenny認為靴子最酷不過了。
他挑了一雙靴子,要 Cathy穿上。

I know what I like and what would be suitable for me.”
“ The kind with heels not too high,
the kind with material not too hard, and the ones in bright pink color, that’s the kind of shoes I’m going to buy.”

Cathy對自己說
『我要自己挑雙鞋,我知道什麼最適合我。
跟不能太高,質地不能太硬,還有我喜歡亮亮的粉紅色,
就是我要買的鞋』

So Cathy finally bought a pair of shoes she liked and walked in her own shoes.
所以最後Cathy挑了他自己喜歡的鞋,也用自己的鞋走路。

Roger Bannister was born in a small town in England.
He showed his talent of running at his early age.
At the outbreak of World War 2, his family moved to Bath, where Roger had practice running on the way to and from school.
His exceptional speed on the running track soon won his scholarship to Oxford University.

Roger Bannister 出生在一個英國的小鎮,從小他就展露出他的跑步才華。
在第二次世界大戰爆發後,他們舉家遷居到Bath, 在那兒他常常練習從家中跑步到學校。
他突出的跑步速度,很快為他贏得了上牛津大學的獎學金。

On May 6, 1954, Roger broke the record as the announcer delivered his time to the cheering crowd:3:59.4.
The unbreakable record had been broken.
Roger Bannister had made history at age 25.

就在一九五四年的五月六日,當廣播員向歡呼的群眾發布Roger Bannister
以三分五十九秒四跑完全程一英里時,這個紀錄就被打破了。
他打破了無法打破的紀錄。

The interesting thing is: after Roger Bannister broke the record, more than 300 other runners had broken the four-minute-mile record!
Why was that?
Wasn’t the four-minute-mile a limit for human being?
No, it was just a barrier in the runners’ mind.

有超過三百個人打破這一英里四分鐘的紀錄。
怎麼會這樣呢?
一英里四分鐘不是人類的極限嗎?
不是的,那只是跑者心中的障礙。
